InordertosafeguardthedevelopmentoftheEVindustryandglobalgreentransformationcooperation,ChinahasfiledacomplaintwiththeWTOovertheEU’sfinalrulingonanti-subsidymeasuresonMonday,aspokespersonwithChina’sMinistryofCommerce(MOFCOM)toldreporters,accordingtowebsiteoftheministry.

ThelatestmovesuggestedBeijinghasmovedforwarditscomplaintasthespokespersonnotedithadalreadyappealedtoWTOovertheEU’’s“strongopposition”tothebloc’espitenumerousobjectionsbyrelevantpartiesrangingfromgovernmentsofEUmemberstates,industriesandthepublic,thespokespersonsaid.

ThespokespersonallegedtheEU’sfinaionisminthenameofanti-subsidy,,immediatelyrectifyitsnon-compliantpractices,andjointlysafeguardthestabilityoftheglobalEVindustrychainandsupplychain,aswellasoverallChina-EUeconomicandtradecooperation,saidthespokesperson.

China’sappealcameaftertheEUbegantolevyupto45%definitivetariffsonChineseEVsafteritsanti-subsidyprobeformorethanayear.

TheEuropeanCommis%,ontopoftheordinaryBEVimportdutyof10%,vecountervailingdutiesonimportsofBEVsfromChinahasobtai%,theproposeddefinitivetariffsaresettogointoeffectfromnextmonthforfiveyears.

BasedontheCommission'sproposal,%tariffonTeslaEVsoriginatedfromChina,%undertheprovisionaldutiesthattookeffectinJuly.

Inthemeantime,theEUandChinacontinuetoworkhardtoexploreanalternativesolutionthatwouldhavetobefullyWTO-compatible,adequateinaddressingtheinjurioussubsidizationestablishedbytheCommission'sinvestigation,monitorableandenforceable,saidtheEuropeanCommission.

TheEU'swrongdecisionwillhurttheinterestsofEuropeanconsumersandimpedetheregion'sgreentransitionplan,whileunderminingthelegitimaterightsandinterestsofChineseEVenterprisesandpotentiallydampeningtheirenthusiasmtoinvestinEurope,accordingtoacommentarybyChina’,astheChineseandEuropeansideshavebothagreedtocontinuetheirconsultations,butitcallsforgreatersincerityandpoliticalcourageontheEUparttoseekareasonablesolutionandcorrectanymistakes.
